Consumer Bills of Rights
OPIC’s Bills of Rights are a basic outline of important rights you have under Texas law. Insurance companies must give you a copy with your insurance policy.
The Bills of Rights are not:
- A complete list of all your rights,
- Part of your policy, or
- A list of everything that you are responsible for.
Note: The 2024 versions of the Homeowners and Auto Bills of Rights (below) reflect the law as of 2024. However, insurers may distribute the 2021 version of the Bill of Rights through October 31, 2024.
Consumer Bill of Rights for Homeowners, Dwelling, and Renters Insurance
